VAR LIVE Shop / VAR BOX wins two awards at APICTA 2019
VAR LIVE Shop / VAR BOX received a Winner Award and a Merit Award at the 19th Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards (APICTA), recognising its entry in both the Consumer and Start Up categories.
Two distinctions for one entry
The awards took place in Ha Long, Vietnam, from 19 to 22 November 2019. The Hong Kong government’s results announcement lists VAR LIVE Shop / VAR BOX as a Winner in the Consumer — Media & Entertainment category and a Merit recipient in the Start Up category.
Both distinctions were awarded to the same entry. They mark two aspects of its recognition at the regional competition: its place in consumer media and entertainment, and its development as a start-up offering.
Connecting the venue and the arcade platform
The entry brought VAR LIVE Shop and VAR BOX together under one project name. For VAR LIVE, these represent complementary ways to experience immersive content: through a physical entertainment venue and through a dedicated VR arcade platform.
Behind both is the connection between digital content and physical interaction. Games, interfaces and hardware work together to turn a virtual environment into an experience people can take part in.
A regional milestone
The two awards form part of VAR LIVE’s 2019 development story. They record the recognition of VAR LIVE Shop / VAR BOX at an event that brought technology projects from across the Asia-Pacific region together for competition and exchange.
